Announcements for the week of September 16th

A Celebration of Tanya  –  Sunday, Sept. 16th, 10 a.m. worship and following.

As you know by now, after 24 years of faithful, dedicated service to our church, our dear pianist Tanya is taking a new position at Ralph Connor Memorial U.C. in Canmore.   Sunday will be her final Sunday with us.   We are planning a service centered on the joy and gift of music.  Tanya herself will play a piano solo and she has also picked her favorite hymns, Katy Gibson will offer a piano solo to say thanks.  And Rev. Crawford, accompanied by Tanya, will sing as well.  This day will be an opportunity for us to thank Tanya for everything she has brought to our church musically, and in other ways.  Please join us after service and coffee for a fabulous Rundle potluck!   Bring your favourite recipes, and we’ll visit with Tanya before she goes to her new position.
Rundle’s Annual Community Thanksgiving Supper

Sunday, October 7th, from 5 – 7 p.m., in Racine Hall, Rundle Memorial United Church.

Once again this year our congregation is sponsoring this wonderful outreach event with the help of Sunshine Mountain Ski Resort for those in our community who may be without family close by or who may simply be alone or simply have no plans!   The great people at Sunshine are providing virtually all the food.  They will cook and serve it as well.  What we need from Rundle people are desserts  –  not necessarily sticky, messy desserts but more in the area of pies – desserts which can easily be cut and placed on plates.   We will also need a signficant number of volunteers to set up tables (Oct. 6 and 7), and more to take down the tables, etc., and clean up the place.   Please watch for more details but mark the date on your calendar!  Join us for some great food, some connections with others in town, and of course a little volunteering.
Larch Valley Hike!!!!

Join us for a hike after church on September 23.  The larch forest will have turned a brilliant gold.

Hike into a unique larch forest high above Moraine Lake. Views of the Ten Peaks are breathtaking.   Parks Canada describes this asModerate: 4.3 km one way; 535 m elevation gain; 3.5 to 4 hour round trip.

Wear hiking boots, and bring water, a lunch, a hat, sunscreen and rain gear, just in case.  Thanks, Anne

Rundle’s New Book Club

We continue meeting Thursday nights to chat about the cutting-edge book on mainstream church growth stories and opportunities:  Diana Butler-Bass’s Christianity for the Rest of us:  How the Neighborhood Church is Transforming the Faith.    We meet from 7 – 8:30 p.m. Thursdays in Lonsdale Lounge.  You can still join us.  Speak to Rev. Crawford for more info.
