Upcoming Events
This is Phyllis’s last Sunday with us as a resident of Banff. Phyllis and Heinz move to Olds at the end of the month. We are deeply grateful to Phyllis for sharing her gifts with the church. She was a trustee, a board member, a member of the strategic directions committee, a member of the Ministry and Personnel committee, a signer of cheques and most of all a friend to us and to God. Thank you Phyllis. We will miss you and will always welcome you back.
Doug Powell will be in Hamilton and in Ottawa this week, visiting his father and performing a wedding of a good friend in Ottawa. Greg Wooley at Ralph Conner UC in Canmore will be on call for the week.
Congratulations to Colin Allan and Jean Macpherson, residents of Banff, on their wedding Saturday here at Rundle.
Tuesday: Presbytery meets in Okotoks
From the Moderator Gary Patterson:
More than 2 million Syrians have fled the violence in their country. The refugee crisis in Syria and beyond is being called one of the worst ever.
The United Church is launching an immediate church-wide appeal for gifts to support Syrians uprooted by civil war. The United Church has already distributed $90,000 for humanitarian relief. Far more is needed to deal with this crisis. Working with partners, your gifts will provide refugees with counselling and support, clean water and sanitation, shelter, food, blankets and toiletries.
You can give your gift through the local church marked Emergency Response-Syria Relief, by mail or directly to the United Church 3250 Bloor St W Suite 300 Toronto ON M8X 2Y4. Tax receipts will be given. Thank you for your help.
